What we build

Three crafts. One standard: it's still there after the flood.

Most of our work is the quiet stuff that makes a property usable: the path to the lake, the cart route to the course, the sendero through the cedar. The bike work proves we can build anything in this ground.

Builders & architects

A dependable sub for paths, drainage and pre-landscape clearing who shows up on schedule and leaves it clean.

The ground here

Thin soil, hard rock, fast water.

Hill Country soil is often only a few inches deep over caliche or limestone, so heavy rain runs off instead of soaking in. On a slope, that runoff picks up speed and cuts gullies through anything bare. West toward Marble Falls and Llano, the ground turns to coarse granite that drains differently again.

That's why paths here fail: no crown, no base, no plan for the water. We read the ground first, then build the drainage into the path.

  • Crowned or outsloped surface on every path
  • Compacted base, stabilized decomposed granite
  • Rolling dips, swales, check dams and rock outlets
  • Mulch left in place on cleared slopes to hold soil

Cross-section of a TX Trailcraft path: crowned stabilized DG over compacted base and fabric on native granite or caliche, with a side swale and rock outlet. 1 2 3 4 5
  1. Stabilized DG, 2–3 in., 2% crown. Binder locks the surface so spring storms don't wash it out.
  2. Compacted base, 4–6 in. Rolled in lifts to carry carts and mowers.
  3. Fabric separator. Keeps base rock from sinking into the subgrade.
  4. Native granite or caliche. We read the ground on site before we design.
  5. Swale and rock outlet. Water leaves on our terms.

How it works

Walk it. Price it. Build it. Keep it.

Free site walk

We walk the route, check the soil and rock, and watch where water wants to go. Usually within 72 hours of your request.

Good / Better / Best

A written proposal within 48 hours: the base build, the base build plus our Storm-Proof drainage package, and both plus a Care Plan.

Build

Excavator and hand crew. 811 called before we dig. Daily cleanup, no ruts left behind.

Care Plan

After-storm checks within 72 hours, DG top-offs and drain cleanouts, so the path you paid for stays that way.

The Build Back Fund

Paid work funds free trails for Hill Country kids.

One percent of every TX Trailcraft invoice goes into the Build Back Fund. It pays for donated community builds like school trails, park pump tracks and trail repairs, and puts bikes under kids who don't have one. Your cart path helps build the next kid's first trail.

How the fund works
Service area

Based in Marble Falls. Working the Highland Lakes.

Free site walks in the core area. Farther out, we bundle visits to keep mobilization fair.

Questions

Straight answers.

What does a golf cart path cost in Horseshoe Bay?

Most stabilized decomposed granite cart paths we plan run $6.50 to $9 per square foot, about $45 to $63 per linear foot at 7 feet wide. That includes compacted base, a crowned surface and drainage outlets. Access, rock and length move the number, so we confirm it on a free site walk.

Do you only build mountain bike trails?

No. Most of our work is paths, cart paths, senderos, drainage and HOA trail repair. Bike trails and pump tracks are where we sharpened our skills, because a trail that holds up to riders and storms is the hardest thing to build in this ground.

How do you keep paths from washing out?

Every path gets a crown or outslope, a compacted base, stabilized surface and a planned exit for water: rolling dips, swales, check dams or culverts. Hill Country soils are thin over granite, limestone and caliche, so water runs off fast. We design for where it goes.

Is there a minimum job size?

Our minimum is $2,500, which covers one machine day plus mobilization. Small items like a few check dams or a short garden path can be bundled into one visit.

Do you work with HOAs and POAs?

Yes. We provide written condition reports, phased budgets for board approval and quarterly Care Plans with after-storm inspections.
